What's better than finding a jazzy venue to sing at? Singing with the Blue Anchor Belles! I'm delighted to announce that these lovely Navy wives have allowed this Marine wife to sing with the @blueanchorbelles ! Thank goodness I scoured the internet for singing opportunities as soon as I got here because these ladies and the music they share are SO LOVELY! I fell in love with jazz and USO-style music in college (as well as fancy vintage dresses and sunglasses😍!) So, naturally, I'm ECSTATIC to be a part of a group that gets to perform these classy, happy-making tunes for all kinds of audiences! I'll definitely continue sharing photos and videos of these graceful (and talented!) ladies performing as gigs start to happen. For now, here are some pics of us at the bay, the National Naval Aviation Museum, and the NAS O'Club. 🔴Warning: lame joke ahead🔴 {P.S. @calebsambrown was in B-Company in the Aggie band. And he was on bugle rank...I'm pretty sure this means I'm married to the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from Company B!} Thanks to Mama Hen Moments for the beautiful photos and fun shoot!!

Did I mention we adopted 2 sweet kittens?? Meet Judith and (Johnny) Cash! ☺️ We adopted these 6 mo old kitties 2 weeks ago, and their presence has brought so much joy into our household! This picture pretty much sums up their personalities: Judith, the outgoing diva who loves to explore and stretch out on soft pillows, and Cash, our ever-loyal and shy man in black. Though Cash has adjusted a bit more gingerly than his rambunctious sister, he’s finally learning to trust us (because of the pets or the food, I can’t say). I’ll definitely be sharing more about this black and white duo in the future! For now, I hope you’ll accept this one picture (the first I’ve been able to take with them both in the frame without fighting😂).

Woah it’s been a crazy month and a half. ~Saw my family and friends for the first time in 8ish months.
~Adopted 2 kittens!! (More pictures to come❤️🐱)
~Finally thought through how I’m contributing to our family (Caleb has had a very light work schedule right now, which has been super nice. Working from home after 2.5 years of college is a weird transition). ~Established a Rule of Life and routine (as outlined by Father Ripperger). Moving to Virginia was really stressful for me, but Florida is already incredible. God has blessed Caleb and I with an incredible house to be made home, for which I am so grateful! I’ve found some places to audition to perform and sing (super exciting!) The most recent blessing (and inspiration for this photo) is my new routine and rule of life. I’ve been trying for months to find a schedule that’ll stick. Every time I created a schedule centering around work, I had so much trouble lighting the fire under my butt to get it done. I realized something must be wrong if it was THAT hard to do work that I enjoyed. Just yesterday I created a rule of life dedicated to praying and reading the Bible (instead of worldly things like work!) and so.much.anxiety. has disappeared. Long story short, life shouldn’t be about work deadlines. It needs to be about God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If you’d like to read it, I wrote a blog post about how to create a Catholic Rule of Life and Regimen which you can find linked in my bio. ☺️

So, we got paid $900 to close on our FIRST HOUSE!🏡 God has truly blessed Caleb and I this week. He graduated TBS, we closed on our first house (and got money back thanks to Homes For Heroes), and are now back in Texas for a couple weeks! We’ve been waiting for almost a year to be back in Texas, but the time together in Virginia was also very fruitful☺️ I’ll soon be posting on the little blog I’m starting about how our PCS (permanent change of station) and house buying adventure went down! For now, @calebsambrown and I are going to enjoy our vacay in Texas and his first EP (mini music album) dropping on October 8th! He did it!!🎉 After almost a year in Virginia, @calebsambrown and his buddies graduated The Basic Officer’s Course at TBS. He’s been in the Marine Corps since May 2019, but now we’re finally off to Pensacola, Florida for flight school. (Spoiler alert: we made it here today!!) I’m so proud of this man. I’ve truly been blessed by Our Lord through Caleb’s leadership and selflessness in our marriage. Can’t wait for the many adventures to come with this goober! 💜☺️ (Also, BIG announcement tomorrow...stay tuned 🥳)

With room to spare... Those lyrics to “The Kite” from You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown pretty much summarize how in awe of the Discovery space shuttle I was! Have you ever noticed how many songs are all about flight? (“Defying Gravity,” “Meadowlark,” soooo many more) I think this is because we all crave to soar past our own limiting beliefs. We want to improve ourselves and be the best version of “me” we can be! Looking at that big, complex pile of metal and electronics that has been IN SPACE 🌑💫 really got me thinking about the limits I place on myself. I tell myself I can’t sing certain songs because they’re difficult or I convince myself that I don’t have enough time in the day to accomplish certain tasks. But if regular ‘ol people were able to build a spacecraft and then walk on the moon, I think I might as well TRY to learn the super hard Queen of the Night Aria. I’ve got nothing to lose🌜 What songs of flight inspire you to persevere and accomplish goals that seem daunting?
